Kids in the Kitchen

Thursday nights in December the Newport Family Literacy & HELP Center will host “Kids in the Kitchen”.    In this FREE 3-part cooking class for youth and parents, Oregon State University’s Nutrition Ed Instructor will be teaching us how to:

  • Put a Rainbow on Your Plate (hands-on fun with fruit, veggies, whole grains) — Dec 1st 6-7:30pm
  • Build a Healthy Plate (kid-friendly meal planning and preparation) – Dec 8th 6-7:30pm
  • Growing with Fruits & Veggies (healthy snacks, yummy plant parts; exploring foods) – Dec 15th 6-7:30pm

The class is open to youth of all ages.  Come with a healthy appetite, and leave with a full tummy and some new recipe ideas!  Call 541-574-5824 to sign up!


About LCSD H.E.L.P.

There are over 582 students in the Lincoln County School District who qualify as homeless. The HELP (Homeless Education & Literacy Project) Centers work with these students and their families to break down the barriers to education and keep them in school and succeeding.
